Sunderland & South Tyneside CAMRA wish all three winners good fortune at the next stage.
Naturally we’re disappointed none of our entries got a top three placing this year (The Steamboat was a 2016 & 2015 winner) but emphasise this is a “champions” event and every entry from all the CAMRA branches in the North East is already a local winner so this is no easy competition. It is equally exciting to see new venues picking up awards, demonstrating none of the venues in the area can rest o their laurels. Also thanks to the branch members who volunteered to take part in this years judging, it’s a dirty job going around the best venues in the North east & drinking beer…but someone has to do it! Any branch member interested in getting involved next year as a judge should make sure they are receiving branch emails so they get the invite.
